Shakespeare uses many different kinds of themes in his plays. Macbeth had ambition and Hamlet had revenge. In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare used the theme of haste. Haste means acting on impulse, which many characters in the play shows with their negative consequences. Romeo’s choices regarding his relationship with Juliet and her naivety towards love made her act hastily, which ended in both of their demise. Another factor regarding the young lover’s death was Friar Lawrence’s help which fulfilled the star-crossed lover’s fate. This showing how the hasty actions of Romeo, Juliet and Friar Lawrence resulted in the unfortunate demise of Romeo and Juliet.
