McDonald is the world largest fast food chain restaurant and it has rapidly increased on franchise international. It was founded by two brother named Richard and Maurice McDonald at California in 1937. This largest food chain franchise first arrived in Malaysia after 45 years later in April 1982 at Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. Now McDonald Malaysia have 265 franchise outlet restaurant across the nationwide. (Farhana, 2017).
McDonald’s Malaysia has not completely adopted the practices and copying the exact markets of the American franchise company. Instead, McDonald’s Malaysia has change the markets by adapting on the Malaysian market and localise the product range. An article from The CEO Magazine (2018) stated that Azmir Jaafar the Managing Director at McDonald’s Malaysia said that “the core items such as Big Macs and Quarter Pounders that are on every McDonald’s menu around the world, while in McDonald’s Malaysia has introduced its own specialties”. Bubur Ayam McD which is chicken strips in rice porridge, top with chilli and fresh shallots. Another Malysian favorites is Ayam Goreng (fried chicken).
The important rules that needed to obey is Halal certificate. McDonalds Malaysia received Halal certificate regulation by the Department of Islamic in Malaysia as it is very necessary because majority the citizen in Malaysia are Muslim.
