In order to maintain there diet they will eat many things like marine birds, selions, fish, squid, octopus, and many, many other animals. Depending on the region the killer whale lives in they will have a distinct diet that can change dramatically. For example killer whales that live in resident pods typically consume a diet consisting of fish and squid while killer whales that live on transient pods will primarily consume marine mammals. Another example of a hunting strategy is when hunting shark, When hunting sharks a group of killer whales may distract the shark and other parts of the pod will flip the shark over. It is quick and efficient whale no killer whale will get hurt.Once the shark is flipped it will be an easy meal while this tactic maximizes the killer whales success.
Killer whales, like other mammals they reproduce through sexual reproduction. Which requires the males sperm to fertilize the female’s egg. Which develops into a young mammal over time in its mother’s uterus for 17 months until it reaches sexual maturity. Then the killer whale gives birth to only one calf. The calf stays with its mother for two years to feed on its mother’s milk. It takes about 15 years to have a killer whale to fully mature.
